Chris Isaak Providence Concert reviews
This Phantom was cover your ears awful!
"I was so excited to go see this touring cast of Phantom, one of my least favorite musicals. Absolutely everyone in it was surprisingly delightful. Christine's voice was surprisingly pleasant, not once did I want to cover my ears when she started singing. She had this wonderfully subtle verbrato that made her consistently on pitch. Meg Giry was surprisingly great, it was a wonder how anyone could ever criticize her performance, and all the full cast numbers were full of beautiful, correct notes that enhanced all the harmonies. Raul was an understudy that night, and he clearly had the perfect voice for the part. To top it all off, all the choreography was completely authentic, and the interactions between the characters were as genuine as could be. Christine, Meg, and Chris Isaak were the best, with every move they made looking natural and captivating. The only disappointing points in the show were Madame Giry and the two Opera Populaire directors. However, I know there are two different Christine's in this production (a fact they fail to tell you when you buy tickets), and we unknowingly got to enjoy watching the one who only does two shows a week. So, maybe Christine improves when played by the other actress, and there is hope for the rest of the cast. Spend your money and enjoy the show!"
